For a stint, spray painting buildings, walls, and trains was one of my brother’s hobbies. In high school he created an alter-ego like identity for himself (that you’ll have to find out for yourself), which included names, personas, and an emblem. The emblem became his tag during his graffiti days.

One night my college roommate and I took a walk through a park that was located next to a set of railroad tracks. Adjacent to the tracks was a wall boasting of my brother’s visit. He had left his mark.

It wouldn’t have done any good if I had tried to convince my friend that Brett had left some graffiti on the wall if there wasn’t any proof that he was there.

My wife and I and some of our closest friends had a Resurrection party the other day. We all got together to celebrate our friend’s transformation and freedom that had come about through her relationship with Jesus. We spent the evening laughing over dinner, savoring the flavors of cheesecake, passing out gifts, and taking communion.

Communion, which is a church sacrament (or in normal humanese: a church practice); it is also known as the Eucharist, Mass, and the Lord’s Supper. It was initiated by Jesus as the way for His followers to remember and celebrate the love, truth, forgiveness, and freedom offered to all through His death on the cross.

We celebrated the Resurrection together because my friend’s life proves that she has received God’s forgiveness through the cross, and power to transform through Jesus’ destruction of sin and death. Her life reveals that Jesus rose from the grave. She’s been tagged by the Resurrection.

There are a lot of people who love the eternal benefits the cross offers. A majority of people prefer to go to heaven over hell. Is the cross just a ticket to paradise? If so, what’s the point of now? How many crave forgiveness but decline the power to be freed of what they crave forgiveness for?

Is Jesus still in the ground?

The elements of Communion, the bread and the wine, are Jesus’ reminder that He was broken for our brokenness. A transformed life is Jesus’ reminder to the world that He rose from the dead.

Where is Jesus?

On the cross?

Buried in the ground?

Risen and changing lives?

Have you been tagged or is there no evidence that Jesus has ever been there before?
