Choose Despair

August 6, 2009

Because it’s easier to think that no one ever changes.

That life is meaningless.

That the needs of the AIDS pandemic in Africa will never be met.

That Christians will always be hypocritical.

That teenagers will always disrespect their parents and have sex before they’re married.

That heaven is lame because it’s for prudes and perfect people.

That war will never subside.

That singles have to be miserable until they’re married.

That you’ll never get out of debt.

That God won’t forgive what happened last night, last week, or last year.

That movies made by Christians will always be cheesy.

That racism and prejudice will always exist in the South.

That divorce is inevitable.

That students can’t make a difference until they’re adults.

That school and fitness center shootings won’t decline.

That you’ll never be loved, acceptable, or valued.

That hell is unavoidable now and for eternity.

That people won’t respond to grace and truth.

That _____________________ will never end.

Hope is hard.

Choose Jesus. Choose hope.
