Review the Year for Me

December 31, 2009

Well, well, well, another year has come to an end. A year packed with hot album releases (The Blueprint 3), paralyzing movie premiers (New Moon), brain-melting new cellphones (Droid),  and throw back clothing, free from apparel exile (the Mr. Rogers Cardigan Sweater).

Big names couldn’t be avoided. Barak Obama, Jon and Kate, Michael Jackson, and Sigourney Weaver (how’d she get an AVTR?) were everywhere we looked (and they even paid off our dreams to get a prime REM spot). If you boycotted grocery stores to avoid the magazine racks or threw your Wii Wiimote through the TV so you weren’t able to watch TMZ, have no fear cause they’ll send their kids up in UFO balloons to get your attention.

Entertainment Weekly, Websites, and Blogs all over the globe are buzzin’ with reviews, best of and worst of lists, and recaps of a year full of news, happenings, and history. I thought about doing that, but decided to put the power in the reader’s hands (and I have a hard time coming up with an exact list of “favorites”).

One reason French Pressed Fridays exists is to evaluate and review pop culture and cultural trends. I feel like I give pop awareness a good attempt, but have to admit that it is a daunting task (and financial strain) to stay on top of everything media-political-environmental-social-technological.

Here’s where you come in. You are not me. You don’t have the exact same interests, preferences, and hobbies as me. You like a lot of stuff that I do and that I don’t.

I’d love to know what you thought of 2009.

What was the best, or your favorite…

Movie?

New Album?

TV Show?

Blog?

Memory?

News Story?

Coffee?

Etc.?

In the space provided below this post comment on one or all (and more) of the categories above.

Basically, if you were writing the 2009 review for People Magazine, Rotten Tomatoes, or the Conan O’Brien Show what would make your top spots?
